Schuberts Re-Invest In The UK Test Centre

We’re pleased to re-introduce our newly refreshed Test Centre at Schuberts, a cornerstone of our R&D and production testing facility!

Based 2 minutes from the M1, Junction 35, its centrally positioned to serve the whole of the UK and close to international airports.

Schuberts are the only UK manufacturer of finishing systems to house and reinvest in, such an array of coating equipment for tests and trials with customers and coating manufacturers.

This site is equipped with production-rated, state-of-the-art finishing technology to ensure our products are tested to the highest standards.

It’s not a only laboratory, it’s a full scale production Test Centre.

Key features include:

– Fully Automated 420 panel and 1VE profile Giardina spray machines – For precise application and consistent results across various surfaces.

– Profile sanding machines – PVC, MDF, aluminium and solid timber pre-sanding and de-nibbing.

– Manual Spray enclosure with filtered air and auto-balance systems.

– Overhead tracking system for hanging products.

– Drying and Curing systems – Schubox™®, Kit-Cat, jetted hot air, laminar and electric NIR. Ensuring optimal drying and curing conditions for coatings.

– Advanced Analytical Equipment – Including WFT and gloss meters, to verify colour accuracy and surface finish.

– Environmental Testing Facilities – Simulate real-world factory conditions, from temperatures to humidifiers, ensuring product durability and reliability.

– Paint mixing room – gravimetric or volumetric mixing of all types of coatings.

New Giardina Full Spray Line Installed

A well-known UK  manufacturer of wooden and timber components has taken delivery of a custom Giardina spray and drying line from Schuberts.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

All of the production trials were carried out at the Schuberts Test Centre near Sheffield to define correct film weights, flash-off times, drying temperatures and energy required. The coating is a special knot-blocking, 100% waterbased coating, so drying was key to the process.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Double, quick change circuits are fitted to the Giardina spray machine, with Wagner pumps and GA4000 auto guns, meaning rapid colour changes, flushes and consistent film weights applied.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The drying tunnel allows for adjustable flash-off length, controllable jetted air from a hot water feed and infra-red from 0% to 100%.

Giardina Profile Spray Line Installed For Door Producer

A new Giardina profile automatic spray line has been installed at one of the UK’s largest producers of timber doors and door sets.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The customer is providing high quality products ideally suited to the health, education, commercial, leisure, office fit out and high end residential markets.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Running at 30m/min, it can deal with waterbased or solvent based coatings in single pack and 2k for primers, mid-coats and top-coats.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

With a denibbing brush sander offline, it will coat from 20mm to 300mm widths, even on the most complex door profiles.
