New Giardina Auto-Spray Line Installed For A Very Special Use

One of the worlds largest manufacturers of engineered sealing solutions has taken delivery of a custom width Giardina coating line from Schuberts.

Built to a working width of 1500mm, this line sprays a very accurate layer of product, recovers all the overspray, to be filtered and used again and then dried inside an inline drying tunnel.

The automatic belt cleaning system on the spray machine means that all overspray is recovered. It then passes through filters and back into a constant mixing stainless steel tank, before being dosed back into the machine.

The automatic guns are positioned inline and fitted with very accurate nozzles and the machine has the ability to control flow, pressure and therefore build-up of coating.

Once sprayed, the product goes into a high speed jetted air oven, connected to in-line waterheaters and heat exchanges so the oven can run at a steady 70-80c irrespective of the factory temperature.

Running at 6m/min, this really is a special fully automatic Giardina spray line supplied by Schuberts!

Ever wondered what a Giardina Vertical Oven looks like and works?

The four-stage vertical oven designed and built by GiardinaGroup and available through Schuberts, optimally performs the four phases that characterize a perfect drying process: flash-off, first heating, second heating, and finally cooling.

The drying curve is guaranteed by the four stages in which the oven is structured, one for each phase, and each stage is separated from the other by dividing panels. In other two- or three-stage ovens, instead, some of the four phases are performed in the same spaces, therefore a homogeneous separation between them is not guaranteed and the zones are joined, mixing air and conditions inside – a less than ideal situation!

The version of four-stage vertical oven presented in the above video link, adopts a belt tray system, perfect for small pieces (there are no dangers related to their handling or dropping through) and for large and heavy elements which, being able to rest on a large and regular surface, do not risk any damage or marking to the contact surface already painted, with the tray system offered by others.

On request, it is possible to have the GiardinaGroup four-stage oven in an ideal set-up for those who have to process both thin pieces (flat doors) and high-thickness ones (curved doors): by reducing the number of trays the problem is solved, keeping the duration in each phase and for each product, whatever its thickness, constant and homogeneous.

Canadian Manufacturer Takes Delivery Of A New Finishing System From Schuberts

A new Schubert installation has been made, with our partners at Yorke Towne, at one of Canada’s premier residential, joinery and commercial manufacturing companies, supplying their customers for over 20 years.

The installation comprises of a fully custom built flash-off and Schubox drying system, connected to a manual spray shop.

Once sprayed, the product is taken into the flash-off zone to settle and vent. The flash-off air is taken into the Schubox for oxidisation of VOC’s.

After flash-off, the Schubox is next. Working at just 40c, it pulls the solvent carriers out and cross-links the coating in record time. After 30 mins in the Schubox, the coatings are perfectly dry and ready for either denibbing or fitting up after topcoat.

Glass Coater Goes Schubert Route

Not all our installations are large or high-value ones….

Here we have a modest manual installation for a glass coater.

The equipment comprises of a manual spray shop enclosure and a retro-fitted Kit-Cat drying system.

Once sprayed in their waterbased coatings, the glass is put into the drying zone, fitted with gas catalytic infrared. This means the drying time is vastly reduced, the coating is properly dried and the ‘open time’ for dust and contamination is down to 20 mins.

Another Glass Processing Company Go Schubox Route

Another successful installation completed.

This time in NI for a well-established and lovely architectural glass processing company.

Custom made Schubox CIR drying system for their range of solvent and waterbased coatings from a manual spray booth. Reducing drying times and that finishing bottleneck from tens of hours to 45-90 mins.

New Giardina Multilevel Vertical Dryer For Profiles Installed

A new Giardina Finishing custom-made high speed vertical oven has been installed.

The system is designed for high quality exterior coatings on solid wooden profiles, up to 6500mm long x 300mm wide.

At the infeed of this multi-level cross transfer, a stacking machine creates a ‘batch’ of pieces (1250mm wide) on each level, one at a time.

The 10 levels of fully motorised chains, move the batches along the oven.

At the end of the oven, after the drying cycle, another stacking machine collects up one batch at a time and deposits it on the unloading level (11th); here, another group of motorised chains and belts singularize the pieces on a outfeed roller conveyor.

This oven gives a 50 minutes drying time at a speed of 11 pieces per minute (70m/min lineal line speed!), thanks to the 100 metre long transfer chains.

The complete system, shown in the pictures, has been installed on a roof/terrace to save space inside the main factory and has its own air handling/heating system.

Composite Door Manufacture Installs Second Schubert Finishing System

The UK’s fastest growing and probably best-know producer of composite GRP doors has taken delivery of a second turn-key bespoke finishing system from Schuberts.

The line incorporates an overhead conveyor track, spray shop clean room with filtered air input and extract, flash-off zone and Schubox drying technology.

Once prepped and cleaned, the doors are hung onto the conveyor and moved into the spray shop for coating. Both the air input and extraction are inverter driven, giving a balanced air flow irrespective of the condition of the filters. The sensors fitted to the spray shop will even tell the operators when to change the filters.

The flash-off section allows the coating to flow and settle before going into the catalytic IR zone for rapid drying in about 45 minutes.

Once dried, the products are taken off the line and moved into the rest of the factory production system.
